Vivo Y28s goes official with MediaTek Dimensity 6300

Vivo Y28s goes official with MediaTek Dimensity 6300, 6.56-inch HD+ LCD display, Funtouch OS 14, 5,000 mAh battery and dual rear cameras.

Earlier this year, Vivo had released an entry-level 5G smartphone called Vivo Y28. Now, the company has announced its sibling Vivo Y28s for the global markets. Both smartphones seem very identical in terms of appearance and configuration. Let’s dive into the main configuration of Vivo Y28s.

The only major change found in the new smartphone is its processor. Vivo Y28s is powered by the MediaTek Dimensitiy 6300 instead of the Dimensity 6080 used on the vanilla Y28. The new chip uses a slightly more powerful CPU with 2x Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and 6x Cortex-A55 @2.0GHz. Meanwhile, the GPU remains the same as Mali-G57 MC2 on both phones. The rest of the specifications are almost (except software upgrade) same on both devices.

The Vivo Y28s shares the same dual 50MP + 2MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies. It is equipped with a 6.56-inch HD+ LCD display at 720 x 1612 pixels resolution, and also supports 90Hz refresh rate & 840-nits brightness. Moreover, there is a 5,000 mAh non-removable battery with 15W fast charging support. The device is made of plastic material and brings an IP54 water & dust resistance rating. In terms of memory, it has 6/8GB of LPDDR4X RAM coupled with 128/256GB of storage, which can be further expanded up to 1TB via a micro SD card slot. On top of that, the device is also offering virtual RAM (6GB + 6GB or 8GB + 8GB) options, which is nothing more than a marketing gimmick.

Other specifications include dual SIM card support, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB Type-C 2.0. It comes in two color variants: Mocha Brown and Twinkling Purple. The smartphone runs on Android 14-based FuntouchOS 14 out of the box. By the time we published this article, there is no information available regarding pricing and availability.
