The Vivo S19 series has been part of several rumors and leaks. Finally, the company announced its launch date through Vivo’s official Weibo account. As per the published data, the Vivo S19 and S19 Pro will debut on May 30 in China at 19:00 CST. Earlier today, Jia Jingdong, Vice President of Vivo, published a detailed report revealing the upcoming Vivo S19 series design and camera configurations.

Jia Jingdong revealed that the vivo S19 Pro will be the industry’s first to launch Sony’s 50-megapixel IMX921 large-bottom main camera, which is 1/1.56 inches in size and supports OIS optical image stabilization. There is a 50-megapixel Sony IMX816 OIS telephoto portrait, supporting 50x digital zoom. The front side is surrounded by an anti-distortion wide-angle selfie shooter possibly a 50MP sensor. On the other hand, the Vivo S19 is speculated to have a 50-megapixel GNJ 1/1.56-inch OIS main camera, incorporated with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.

Both phones are embedded with a soft light ring (Aura Light) under the camera module. When taking pictures, the “soft light ring” light emission range and light spot focus range are automatically adjusted as the phone lens zooms. Jia Jingdong added, “When using the main camera to take close-ups, the soft light ring will emit a large area of scattered light to provide fill light for wide scenes. When switching to telephoto, the soft light ring will focus the light into a narrower beam to cover distant objects.”

Vivo S19 & S19 Pro Expected Specifications

According to the previous data, the Vivo S19 Pro will have a 6.78-inch OLED curved display at 1260 x 2800p resolution. Most probably, it will retain the same display as the s18 with a 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 2800 nits. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset, revealed by multiple Geekbench listings. The device is expected to have up to 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage. In terms of battery, it will have a 5,500 mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. It will have a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide, and a 50MP telephoto lens.

On the other hand, the standard Vivo S19 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC under the hood. It will have a larger 6000 mAh battery with 80W wired charging support. The vivo S19 has a straight-screen design, while the Pro has a curved screen as far as design is concerned. All in all, Vivo is all set to launch its next-generation “S” series smartphones. It is understood that the Vivo S series is China-exclusive. But the same series goes under the V series in global markets. Hence, these smartphones might be arriving under the upcoming Vivo V40 lineup, which is rumored to launch somewhere in Q3, 2024.
